A motorcycle ride is always fun, but riding a motorcycle on a date can be almost guaranteed to be a lot of fun. My first date with my wife was actually a motorcycle ride.
Sometimes, it can be difficult to know what to do. “motorcycle date” You don’t just have to go for a ride. This article contains 15 ideas for what you can do together on a motorcycle date. It almost guarantees that you’ll have a great time.
Ride during The Sunrise/Sunset
This suggestion may seem a little cheesy, but you won’t think it’s cheesy while you’re actually out doing it. Seeing the sunset in the car versus seeing it while you’re actually outside makes a huge difference. This is why it’s a great idea to do this on a motorcycle.
If you can see the sun rising or setting ahead of the sunrise, it will be easier for drivers to observe. Find a road that’s usually clear and take your date out to admire nature’s greeting/farewell while being able to completely soak in the environment your motorcycle enables you to do.
Take the Back Roads
This is a great idea if you live in small towns, but it is possible no matter where you are. It will allow you and your date to get out of the city on a motorcycle ride. Who knows, maybe you’ll come across something you’ve never seen before that the two of you can claim as a special spot.
Look at a map or GPS a day before you meet your date to find out which roads are possible. You may even get a good suggestion or two from friends who have traveled down some of those roads you haven seen yet (or your date hasn’t seen).
Enjoy National Parks
You can take your bike on a motorcycle ride through a designated area of national park if you live near one. There’s something completely different about riding a motorcycle through a national park compared to driving a car. You’re able to immerse yourself much easier and enjoy much more with the company of your date.
You can trailer your motorcycle to the nearest national park and take your date along. Don’t forget the treats at the gas station!
You can also go cafe hopping on your motorcycle with your date, in lieu of the cafe racer tradition. Post-WWII, children rode their basic models motorcycles from one cafe to the next and raced eachother while enjoying coffee at their stops. Click here for more details about the history of cafe racing.
This one can be changed a bit. If there are several places you’ve wanted to try, take this opportunity and try them out with your date using your motorcycle as the source of transportation. It’s possible to have an appetizer, a main course, and dessert all at the same place.
Although it may sound a little juvenile to consider a scavenger hunting, it can be very enjoyable if you have the right people and the right places. You’ll likely need the help of a friend to accomplish this.
First, you’ll need to have someone go around town and take pictures of random, easy to access places. But they’ll need to take the picture in a way that makes it difficult to tell exactly where it is. Once you have all the pictures, take your date out on the motorcycle and go exploring. Then you can end with dessert at you or your date’s choice of place.
Geocaching is a great way for couples to explore the city together with a common purpose. If you’re unfamiliar with geocaching, it’s an outdoor activity that requires coordinates that’ll take you to an exact spot where a box or container is held. After you have found the container, you must sign a piece on paper proving that you found it. You may find a toy or trinket in the container that you can replace with your own trinket.
Using a GPS usually helps a lot when doing something like this though it’s not always required. A motorcycle date is a wonderful way for you to get to know your town and have fun while searching for treasure.
Take Part in A Charity Ride
You usually don’t have to look very hard for a charity motorcycle ride close to where you live. This is a great date idea, especially if you are both passionate about the cause.
If you’re unfamiliar with what a charity run is, it’s where motorcyclists register and pay to become a part of a group of bikers that ride from one point to another together. The proceeds are used to support a cause of your choice and the large number riding together raises public awareness.
Use a Compass and/or a Map
As yet another suggestion for adventure, rather than using a GPS or your phone, discuss with your date where you’d like to go and try to find it on your motorcycle using a compass and/or a map.
This skill is now lost as technology has taken over. This can be especially fun on a motorcycle because you’ll likely make a few wrong turns but will discover some places you may not have otherwise known existed.
Play a Fake Tour Guide
This is a favorite suggestion of mine and something that my wife and me have done on our motorcycle rides together. Pick a road that has a low speed but also has a lot of surroundings such as a quaint main street or a road with unique homes (the low speed roads will make it so you’ll be able to hear each other talk).
Take turns telling each other made up facts that you’ve come up with on your own about the buildings and landmarks you’re passing. You will need to be able to improvise. This can be quite funny, especially if your date is a good comedian.
Try a Fancy Motorcycle
Going on a date on a motorcycle can be particularly tricky if you don’t have one. But it’s still possible to go on a date using a motorcycle by test riding a motorcycle from a dealership.
This is also possible if you already own a motorcycle and want to try something different. You can take your date to the nearest motorcycle dealer and decide which motorcycle you like best. Also note that if you do this, the both of you will probably need to leave a copy of your licenses with the dealership while you’re out for your ride.
Ride Through An Old Cemetery
Though it may sound a bit creepy at first, cemeteries can actually be quite fascinating especially if it’s an older one. It’s possible to take a date riding through a cemetery on your motorcycle, as long as you respect the environment.
Do your research on the cemetery before you go. Find out how old it is and who the people are buried there. Headstones can be full of symbolism so you might recognize certain symbols as you bike around.
Ride through a Canyon
It is a pleasure to drive through canyons. A canyon motorcycle ride amplifies this pleasure. You and your date will have a good time together. It’s great to be a part this fresh air.
Even better, you can pack a lunch and dinner for your ride together. You can also make a picnic. Riding a motorcycle gives you an advantage because you can ride to certain destinations that a car couldn’t get to.
You can make a movie using an action camera
It’s a great way to spend some time on a date while you are riding your motorcycle. A Go Pro is an excellent option for capturing your motorcycle adventures.
This option can be combined with other suggested date options. Take a ride through the canyon, go on a scavenger search, or geocaching. Edit the footage as part of your date.
Ride Around Rich Neighborhoods
This is another great way to have a romantic time while riding a motorcycle. My wife and I used to do this a lot as we were still dating and were getting closer to getting married.
Take a ride through a wealthy neighborhood and admire the beautiful architecture. If you’re close with the person you’re on a date with, use this as an opportunity to dream about the future and point out houses and styles you both like.
Visit a Drive-In Movie
Drive-in movies are a beloved American pastime. Even on a motorbike, they can be very romantic. Talk with your date to find out which movie options they prefer. Bring blankets and snacks. Make sure you check with the drive-in theatre ahead of time to make sure they allow motorcycles.
